Bibelot is a late nineteenth century word derived from the French word bel 'beautiful', meaning a small item of beauty, curiosity or interest. The word ephemera is derived from the sixteenth century Greek word ephmera meaning a printed or hand written paper not meant to be retained for a long period of time. She was the eldest child of Ernest Augustus, Crown Prince of Hanover and Princess Thyra of Denmark, the youngest daughter of King Christian IX of Denmark and Louise of Hesse-Kassel. She was married on 10 July 1900 in Gmunden, Austria-Hungary to her third cousin twice removed Prince Maximillian of Baden (1867-1929), homosexual son of Prince Wihlem of Baden and his wife Princess Maria Maximilianovna of Leuchtenberg.
