Make yourself the perfect Girdle to wear with Wartime fashions!

In the 1940s, Wartime restrictions on fabric and civilian garment production hours threatened the manufacture of complicated garments such as girdles and corsets.

What's a 40s girl to do?

The United States' National Recovery Act asked manufacturers to produce garments with less material and trimmings for the sake of the War effort. The British Board of Trade instituted a simliar program called the Utility program and garments made under this scheme bore the mark CC41.

Based on a British-made girdle with the CC41 stamp, this design is the perfect undergarment for 1940s wartime frocks. Easy to make. Easy to wear. It closes center front with a standard corset button busk and hooks.  A little bit of simple elastic makes for a comfortable fit.

Fits waists 24 to 56 and hips 36 to 68. All sizes in one envelope.

Also included are assembly instructions, embellishment suggestions, and the extensive historical notes you've come to expect from Reconstructing History.

Suggested Fabrics: coutil, cotton sateen, rayon satin, cotton twill
Notions: flat steel bones, corset button busk, heavy hooks and eyes, stocking suspenders, elastic fabric
Yardage Requirements: 1 yard at least 36 wide
