A new study shows that obstructive sleep apnea may hasten cognitive decline in middle-aged men. The research included 27 men between the ages of 35 and 70 with diagnosed obstructive sleep apnea and compared them to seven healthy men. The results showed that men with severe obstructive sleep apnea showed deficits in vigilance, executive functioning, short-term visual recognition memory, and social and emotional recognition.
