Take root. Our SWALLOWTAIL pants are inspired by the centuries-old trees that we share the soil with -- trees that have seen new generations of organisms blossom year after year. SWALLOWTAIL features an elastic waistband in the back, which adds an easy comfortable flow to the clean flat finish of the flat front waistband. Inseam pockets are nested in the side seams in soft, crisp cotton. These minimalist, mid-rise trousers are a simple, elegant, classic staple for formal celebrations and rugged adventures alike. The patchwork knees are inspired by the rich colors seeping from nature-- a unique compilation of our linen and cotton scraps naturally dyed with black beans, tea, acorns, yellow onions, and oak leaves. Naturally dyed: Your piece will be naturally dyed by hand in any of our current offerings that you choose (see 2nd photo). I use pigments from plants to achieve rich earth tones. The Fabric: 100% washed linen, medium weight. We love linen because of its strength and durability. Linen is considered to be the strongest of all-natural fibers, and gets stronger and softer with washes! We also love it for its low environmental impact, breathability, comfort, and versatility. We thrive on the natural wrinkles in the fabric it's a lifestyle. The fabric is very opaque (not see-through), so we find the pants to be perfectly breezy and freeing to wear with most underwear. The Sewing:This piece is sustainably constructed in our studio using zero-waste sewing. All seams are finished (no raw edges), meaning they are prepared to outlive the most active lifestyles. We believe the garments you love should outlive you. So, we include a complimentary mending kit with every order, which contains matching scrap fabric, matching thread, a sewing needle, and a guide to visible mending. Repair is noble!
